BBC News New Zealand's military has released hundreds of documents detailing claims of sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
The files, dating from 1954 to 2009, include drawings of flying saucers and alleged samples of alien writing.
The files include details of New Zealand's most famous UFO sighting when strange lights were filmed off the South Island town of Kaikoura in 1978.
An official report from the time said natural phenomenon could explain it.
Although the incident made international headlines at the time, the military report suggested it could be lights from boats reflected in clouds or an unusual view of the planet Venus.
Following the release of the files, New Zealand Air Force spokesman Kavae Tamariki said the military did not have the resources to investigate UFO sightings and would not be commenting on the documents' contents.
"We have just been a collection point for the information. We don't investigate or make reports, we haven't substantiated anything in them," he told the Dominion Post newspaper.
"Many weirdos email us about UFOs or how they discovered that they were the anti-christ whilst talking with their ex-wife at a garden party over a pot-plant. However, as yet they have not satisfied two of our publishing rules. However, it is worth noting that in yet-to-be-published parts of the cablegate archive there are indeed references to UFOs."
Daily Mail It may sound like a Spielberg movie plot, but if senior U.S. airmen are to be believed, this scenario is not science fiction.
They claim that since 1948, aliens have been hovering over UK and U.S. nuclear missile sites and deactivating the weapons– once even landing in a British base.
Furthermore, they warn, our governments are hushing the activity up.
Captain Robert Salas, who, along with six others is to break his silence on the subject, said: ‘We’re talking about unidentified flying objects, as simple as that.
‘They’re often known as UFOs, you could call them that.
PRWeb Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, USAF (Ret.), the lead investigator in the still ongoing Billy Meier UFO contacts in Switzerland, died on September 7, in Tucson, Arizona.
Stevens, who began researching UFOs for the Air Force in 1947, played a major role in bringing the Meier UFO contacts to public attention.
Having learned of Meier's contacts and seen some of his early UFO photos in 1977, Stevens organized a team that included private investigators Lee and Brit Elders of Intercept, and photographic expert Jim Diletosso and Tom Welch. Their findings were augmented and attested to by numerous scientific experts when independent author Gary Kinder (Light Years) also investigated the case.
PRWeb A newly-published book by a retired NORAD officer predicts October 13, 2010 as the tentative date for a fleet of extraterrestrial vehicles to hover for hours over the earth's principal cities. Author says the event to be the first in a series...
The move is intended to avert a planetary catastrophe resulting from increasing levels of carbon-dioxide in the earth's atmosphere dangerously approaching a "critical mass."
The book, Challenges of Change (3rd ed.), reports this event will be the initial interaction in a process leading to mankind’s acceptance of the alien reality and technologies for the removal of poisonous gases from the earth’s atmosphere in 2015, if not sooner.
The author draws upon his military experience with the UFO phenomenon dating back to WW2, and later, with NORAD and his subsequent life-long association with a senior NORAD intelligence officer who provided him a wealth of historical data relating to NORAD’s experience with the UFO/alien reality which has never been revealed to the public. In the military's view, as conveyed to and understood by Fulham, the public is not yet ready to accept an alien reality.
It's 21st September and Google changes their doodle again coinciding with their recent UFO theme, this time the UFO is actually part of the word as an 'O', with other UFO's sitting atop tripods in the background.
After some speculation regarding Google's intentions with their UFO themed doodles, it seems likely that the intentions were aimed at H.G. Wells, author of 'War of the Worlds' 1898, a hugely popular story of invaders from Mars which was later featured as an episode on the American radio drama anthology series 'Mercury Theatre' and was performed as a Halloween episode on October 30, 1938. It aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network.
The radio drama was directed and narrated by Orson Wells and famously fooled members of the public into mistaking a real alien invasion was under way, unfortunately with real casualties. From the book spawned a musical in 1978 by Jeff Wayne called "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds" which achieved international success including worldwide hit singles "The Eve of the War" and "Forever Autumn", with vocals performed by Justin Hayward in both.
Source: Shropshire Star It first hovered in the air before "pirouetting and dancing" across the sky. Then it disappeared at enormous speed. "When we first saw it, it was in one position behind the trees in the woods," said Mr Beddoes, 39. "There was nothing else in the sky but this orange glow."
He said the light, which was diamond-shaped with smaller lights inside it, darted about in the air but made no noise. “And then it was gone in the blink of an eye.” Mr Beddoes, a cleaning supervisor at GKN Sankey, said: “We could not talk to each other afterwards. We were amazed.”
It's the second time Google has doodled a UFO into their logo. On the 5th September Google seemed to cause a stir by doodling their second 'O' being abducted whilst a googler tweets a cryptic tweet suggesting 'All your O are belong to us'. A joke involving 'rings and probing' comes to mind but we wont go there.
Fast forward a few days to the 15th September, this time the 'very same' UFO appears to be 'not doing evil' except it is doodling crop circles in some poor farmers field, hovering over the first 'O', no doubt causing the farmer to arm himself and shoot some members of the public. The second accompanying cryptic tweet was a latitude and longitude for Woodham Road in Woking, Surrey, the leading theory being HG.Well's "The War of the Worlds" (1898)
It seems to have caused many to wonder what Google have up their sleeve and speculation is anti-climactically rife. The big question is, what's next for the 25th September?
Source: The Telegraph Scientists at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing are reported to have confirmed that they filmed a UFO during the eclipse for 40 minutes. They say that they will spend the next 12 months studying the footage before drawing any conclusions.
The director of the observatory, Ji Hai-sheng, told sina.com that scientists would not be speculating publicly on the nature of what was captured on film until it had been properly studied.
He added:"'Purple Mountain Observatory and Chinese Academy of Sciences said that during the July 22 total solar eclipse observation, China had discovered near the sun, by observing staff, an unidentified object, it's physical nature remains to be further studied.
"Currently manpower is being organized to deal with this data, complete the data analysis and reveal the scientific results and this will take at least one year's time to finalise."

Source: Real UFO Why the official explanation for the apparent UFO captured by Astronauts on the Apollo 16 mission may be wrong.
Nasa published an article titled 'UFO No Longer Unidentified' on the web site where they claim to have identified the UFO from the footage captured by the Astronauts on return from the Moon in 1972.
NASA: "Beginning their return from the moon to an April 27, 1972, splashdown, Astronauts John Young, Thomas Mattingly and Charles Duke captured about four seconds of video footage of an object that seemed to look a lot like Hollywood's version of a spacecraft from another world." Read more...
