Is NASA really telling us the truth about the Apollo 16 UFO footage captured by Astronauts in 1972? Is this the cleanest ever footage taken of a UFO to date, hidden in plain sight? Why are they getting away with it?I will explain here why I think the ‘official explanation’ for the apparent UFO captured by Astronauts on the Apollo 16 mission, may be wrong. By Paul Hanton. Nasa has published an article titled 'UFO No Longer Unidentified' on their web site where they claim to have identified the UFO from the footage captured by the Astronauts on return from the Moon in 1972 as something mundane. NASA: "Beginning their return from the moon to an April 27, 1972, splashdown, Astronauts John Young, Thomas Mattingly and Charles Duke captured about four seconds of video footage of an object that seemed to look a lot like Hollywood's version of a spacecraft from another world."
I studied the footage from the mission and it would appear that in it they notice something appear in the top right/left (Different footage has the images flipped) frame of the picture, the camera suddenly starts shifting about, almost frantically, a bright flash that actually lights up the entire Moon followed by about 25 seconds of blackness, as though the camera was pointing at the window frame, and silence, then it's a bit of commotion, a cut, and we can see the moon again, then another cut, the moon is a lot closer this time and the object can be seen clearly in the image for a couple of seconds, the camera pans across to the other side of the moon, then back to the object which appears to fade away.
Another cut to the moon and after a short pause something can be seen to 'whiz' by the command module, travelling extremely fast, blink and you might miss it, then they talk about turning the function off. Two bright flashes can been seen coming from the moon, the Astronaut then switches the camera off and in the process of doing so, the brightness seems to increase dramatically and a white dot can be seen where the object was pictured.
Reading NASA's explanation, I was a little confused by the reasoning behind the investigation. The reference to Hollywood as a source of humour, serves only to subdue the reader into thinking 'fake'! The outcome of the official NASA investigation states that an enhanced Apollo 16 image can be compared with features of the EVA floodlight/boom from the perspective of a Command/Service Module window. They claim the UFO is actually a picture of the floodlight boom.
On closer inspection of the floodlight boom from the NASA web site you notice some rather 'in your face' discrepancies such as the shape of the area that is purported to contain the bulb and the bolts that appear in the images from NASA, are nowhere to be found! No matter how hard I look at this picture I cannot see how the camera footage could see the floodlight/boom in the way NASA claims. To illustrate my point I created a simple 3D Model of the Command Module based on the information in this picture, see below.
Note that the above picture is of the Command Module from Apollo 17. But for illustrative purposes, 100% accuracy is not required, instead, the real anomaly is in the simple geometry of the objects and positions between the floodlight/boom and the window. Apollo 16 debriefing: section 22.6 to 22.7Manning complains about the camera equipment."Camera Equipment, I thought that the camera equipment operated beautifully. I still have some very strong comments about the idea of using a camera like the Hasselblad and having to use a ring sight on the side of it. I have several pictures where I had the target in the ring sight and unfortunately the lens was looking at part of the window frame." I think that this might explain the 25 seconds of what appeared to be the window frame in the UFO footage!
Although not great quality, some of the frames from the google footage appears to show odd happenings; Something whizzes by the command module and flashes of light can be seen coming from the Moon.
Section 24.0 of the Apollo 16 Debriefing: Astronauts talk about a bright flash below the horizon of the Lunar surface. Apollo 16 debriefing: section 24.0 MATTINGLY: "The other one was that little flash I saw, Maybe somebody saw it on one of the seismometers, on one of the early revs. It's on the D6E because I remember commenting out loud about it. I was sitting there waiting for a solar corona. There was this bright flash, and it was below the horizon. I looked out the window every dark pass after that looking for another one. I never saw any more. I don't know whether I saw a meteorite hit, or what, but it was a bright flash. It was brighter than any star or planet that was above the horizon. It was definitely below the horizon. Maybe somebody in one of their seismic things might have seen something about that time. I don't know what good it would do us if they did, but it was there."
As the camera is switched off, a white dot can be seen in, roughly, the same position the object was seen, it might be nothing, it might be something...
