Heidi  - Strange light over Newbury on film   |90.209.230.xxx |2009-01-18 22:18:41
Hiya,

I live in Speen, Newbury and tonight notice an unusually bright light above the town towards the direction of Hungerford. It was abnormally bright in comparison to everything else. It was at least 10 times closer and brighter. It was NOT an airplane, as I could definitely identify airplanes in the sky as they were less bright, farther away and moving.

I watched this light on my own for about 5 minutes and became stressed by it because I could not identify what it could possibly be. It did not move, it did not change colour, however the dimness of the light would change. It was a very large light as well.

My partner agreed it was not a helicopter nor an airplane, but believed it could be a star. I said it was to close, and bright to be a star. It definitely was within our atmosphere and was definitely within 'clouds reach'.

My partner got the camcorder out and recorded this object for several minutes. The brightness of the object changed, however its colour and position did not change.

Half an hour later my partner looked outside and the object had moved several inches across the nights sky (relative to our viewpoint, not actual distance), so this ruled it out being a star. While watching this object it never appeared to change position. It only changed positions when we stopped watching it. However it DEFINITELY was NOT an airplane as there were other planes in the sky which appeared farther away, had the usual flashing lights and you could clearly see them moving. This light was much closer and MUCH brighter and more stationary than any airplane I've ever seen. I would refuse to believe any claims that the object was an airplane as it had NOT moved position at all in the 5 minutes we recorded the object.

Did you get any other reports on this?
