Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, USAF (Ret.), the lead investigator in the still ongoing Billy Meier UFO contacts in Switzerland, died on September 7, in Tucson, Arizona.

Stevens, who began researching UFOs for the Air Force in 1947, played a major role in bringing the Meier UFO contacts to public attention.

Having learned of Meier's contacts and seen some of his early UFO photos in 1977, Stevens organized a team that included private investigators Lee and Brit Elders of Intercept, and photographic expert Jim Diletosso and Tom Welch. Their findings were augmented and attested to by numerous scientific experts when independent author Gary Kinder (Light Years) also investigated the case.
